This installation is a thinking on the transmission of an exile story from one generation to another, like a crossing from one space to another. On one video, an old person (the artist’s father) speaks about his experience of exile (in Russian with French subtitles). On the other video, the artist writes that story on a plexiglass sheet. By superposition, the layers of writing transform into a mesh, behind which the artist slowly disappears. This video is projected on a carbon paper curtain. On the other side of the curtain one can see the testimony of the artist’s daughter on the story of her grandparents’ exile, in French. The video where the artist writes on plexiglass is visible by transparency from both sides of the installation.
